The Studio & Owner

After a corporate career, Christie McDade, the owner and operator, became a certified teacher in 2017 after completing a 600-hour classical Pilates training program with 2nd generation teacher, Donna Longo. Christie previously worked as a pilates instructor at Integrated Fitness and Forrestal Village Fitness (FVF) . She opened her own studio in January 2018 to continuing working with clients displaced when FVF abruptly closed. Christie regularly attends trainings, workshops and individual sessions with industry leaders. Her most recent long-term teachers are Patricia Medros, Brett Howard, and Olga Harkola. Christie’s most recent in-person trainings were with Katie Yip, Ilaria Cavagna and Madeline Black.

Pilates Path operates in a home studio that benefits from a separate entrance. The equipment in the studio is Gratz, the premier classical brand designed and built based on Joe Pilates specifications. Sessions are conducted on a select combination of Reformer, Tower, Mat, Wunda Chair, Baby Arm Chair, Electric Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, Mini-Barrel and Ped-o-Pul. Each session is personalized to address short-term issues (what pain or body problem you walk in with that day) and your long-term goals.

Christie continues to take private lessons, group training and attends workshops to advance her knowledge of both pilates and the body.

Private Sessions

Each one-to-one session is customized to your body needs either for that particular day or in general. Using various apparatus and props, and with an eye toward better posture, I tailor the session to work on immediate, short-term and long-term goals. You will experience an invigorating workout that leaves you feeling energized and accomplished.

FAQs

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of low-impact exercise that uses resistance (springs or bodyweight) to improve physical strength, flexibility and posture. It focuses on breathing and connecting the mind with body to improve overall general health.

What are the main benefits of Pilates?

  • Improved flexibility

  • Increased muscle strength, especially abs, lower back, hips and buttocks

  • Improved balance and stability

  • Better posture

  • Improved concentration

  • And so much more!

What is the cancellation policy?

A strict 12-hour cancellation policy. If less than 12 hours is given, you will be charged at the full session rate.

Do you offer duets?

Not at this time.

Is Pilates Right for Me?

We like to say that Pilates is right for every body. Your age, height or weight is no reason to think Pilates is not for you. We focus on your specific needs, so Pilates really is for everybody. I have trained clients from ages 14-83, from XS to XXL, from those that are perfectly healthy to those that are not. Pilates works for everyone.

Will I see a difference?

Although individual results vary, Joe Pilates is quoted as saying, "In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you'll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you'll have a whole new body."

What methods of payment are accepted?

Cash, checks or Zelle is preferred though credit cards and PayPal are also accepted.

I haven’t worked out in years or ever! Is Pilates too challenging for me?

No. Pilates is a great workout for beginners as the method starts at the foundational level and progresses at your pace. It is a great way to build core strength, increase flexibility and improve your posture in a low-impact, bespoke way.

What should I wear?

Choose clothing that allows you to breath and to move. Yoga pants and tank tops free of zippers, buttons and snaps work well. Bulky clothing is not recommended as it is important to be able to see how your body is moving. Sticky bottoms socks provide the best grip for your workout.

How often should I do Pilates?

Twice a week is better, but weekly is better than not at all! Most clients who only come once per week wish they could find time for a second session. Those who come twice a week see results faster.
